We need to beware any time those who oppose God start quoting Scriture in order to justify themselves. This is no different than when the devil, Satan, quotes God in Scripture. We remember when he tempted Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11), each time he prefaced it with saying, "if You are the Son of God ..."
There are some things we need to remember whenever we quote Scripture.
(1) First, context matters! The devil quoting from Psalm 91 had nothing to do with Jesus jumping off of the temple and the angels catching Him.
(2) Second, never turn to Scripture to prove a point. Rather, turn to Scripture to find the truth (John 8:32).
(3) Third, twisting Scripture to one's own benefit only leaves you with twisted Scripture (2 Peter 3:14-18) and a warped theology.
(4) Foueth, "rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15) doesn't authorise cutting and pasting verses to support a doctrine. Amassing a mountain of verses may simply be making a spiritual mountain out of a mole hill!
